The end of the dog saga

(Brooklynn saying good-bye)
Boy oh boy am I glad the whole dog thing is over and done! It was definitely not painless but we have learned that we are not animal people. Our dogs were great animals--super cute and quiet. They were easy dogs--for the most part. We just don't like animals. Jeremy and I don't like them in our house, we don't like cleaning up after them, we don't like playing with them. So anyway. After we made the decision to let them go, Jeremy's mom decided she wanted to have them. I was hesitant only for one reason--I just thought it might be hard for Brooklynn to share the dogs with all of her cousins when we are all there. I was just worried about her feelings. We had already broken her heart enough! Anyway, we decided to do that because Brooklynn was happy that she would get to still see them. I was just glad that Brooklynn was happy and the dogs were taken care of. Well, that lasted like a day. Within two days, Jeremy's mom and split up the dogs to go with two of her daughters. I was not happy--not because I don't like his sister's just that I knew it would be not good for Brooklynn. So we ended up bringing the dogs home again. Yup, had to break Brooklynn's heart again. Great. Jeremy's sister in Vegas offered to take both of them so we shipped them down there. However, Jeremy's mom decided she really wanted one so now there is one in Vegas and one in Parowan. Brooklynn is okay with it all though since she'll get to still see both of them. I'm glad she's happy with it--and I'm glad we can say we tried it and it didn't work. Not. Doing. It. Again!

It's rough - -and I love how you are taking Brooklynn's feelings very seriously. It matters a lot.

I know what you mean. I swore I would never get animals for my kids. We are borrowing other people's animals so they aren't really ours. My mom just "gave" Madison her cat to take care of it. They are also "taking" her poodle. This means we watch them while my mom is gone--which is most of the time. But, we can always give them back.

Whoa....got lost a little but I think I got it.....both puppies & mommy are happy? Cute Brooklyn seems like she's taking it okay. I'll know who to call when I need a dog babysitter, he hee!

LOL! Let me tell ya from experience. You have a very happy ending. I'm still stuck with our dog and I wish he could go AWAY! I know all the dog lovers think I'm horrible, but we are so not animal people either.

Glad to see I'm not the only mean mom! We sent Mox off to a new home today too! It will be great not stepping in dog poop in the middle of the night. Ya that happened!

You think it's over! The drama has just began! He he. I hope it all works out for Brooklynn's sake, and yours too!

We're not 'dog' people, either. Or 'cat' for that matter. We have had two 'hand-me-down-dogs' since we have been married, and it just didn't work out either time. Thanks heavens we didn't have kids yet! Good luck! I'm all about visiting the dog at Grandma's house... all the fun... no commitment. That's my kind of pet.

Well, glad you gave it a shot. Pets are hard, I'm sure. They were easy when you were a kid, but that's cause your parents really took care of them. Now that I'm the parent... I'm a little scared of what the reality of pet ownership will be like.

I think its great that you tried, and did what was best for your family. I hope it all continues to work out and the whole situation can be a win-win.

Really glad to read the comments & realize that we aren't the only people who aren't "animal people." I don't know if I already said this, but we actually had a conversation while we were dating about whether either of us would ever want a pet (answer: no). But you were so great to try it out for the kids, and you've been so sensitive about Brooklynn's feelings. You are seriously an amazing mom.

That is a 'Doggone shame' it didn't work out...hehehe. Brooklyn is lucky to have such a good mom to explain things to her. She will understand the whole thing when she grows up and is in the same position. I have a three legged dog if you want to borrow him. He is the happiest retarded dog you have ever seen. He just eats and poops....really big poops. Have you though about a little fish in a little dish?

Kudos for trying to make it work! :) You are a better woman than I. I don't know if I'll ever even try.
